One of the UK’S best boutique musical festivals presents an array of superb world class headline acts featuring the very best in Jazz, Blues, soul, R&B, Funk, Latin and World Music. Street performances, free jazz venues and ticketed events cover the town.
Rye Arts Festival – Autumn
Rye is the perfect backdrop for an Arts Festival. It was started in 1972 and is one of the top ten small festivals in Britain, providing a diverse mixture of musical, literary and theatrical events with an emphasis on quality, intellectual weight, style and fun. The visual arts are equally well provided for with local galleries running shows especially for the festival. Venues include St Mary’s Church, the delightful churches in the neighbouring villages of Iden, Playden and Winchelsea and the Barn Theatre at Smallhythe Place, where Ellen Terry lived.
Wild Boar Week 22nd – Late Autumn

Rye International Film Festival: Early Winter
The Rye Independent Film Festival celebrates new short film making from around the world, in all its forms. Dedicated to providing a platform for established and emerging film makers to share their work. RIFF takes place at the state of the art new Kino Digital Cinema.
Rye Bonfire Night: November
This hugely popular event draws large crowds and is popular with both adults and children. The Fireworks are launched from the far side of where the fishing fleet moor, good vantage points include the salts, Hilders cliff, the cricket pitch and the back of the Queens pub as well as the Monckbretton bridge area. http://www.ryebonfire.co.uk.

Restaurants across Rye showcase an array of different scallop dishes. Scallop events include tastings, cookery schools and demonstrations.
Rye Ukulele Festival
This annual event attracts Ukulele groups from across the country and in 2016 it even featured a Ukulele Open Mic spot for those fancying themselves a bit of a dab-hand on the miniature string instrument!
