Camber and Rye offer the full range of cafes and restaurants many serving only locally produced food ranging from top end gastronomy to simple but high quality pub grub. Below are a few of the places our guests have recommended to us.

Camber

The Rye Bay Café is just across from the beach on the Old Lydd Road. It offers bistro food using locally sourced ingredients and has excellent fish and chips. Opening hours are published on twitter and they accept well behaved small dogs during the day.

Marino’s Fish Bar this fish and chip restaurant and take away offer the highest quality fish and chips, pies and scallops when in season.

Webbe’s at the Fish café created by a local couple Paul and Rebecca Webbe and winner of OpenTable’s diner’s choice award 2016. This Ground-floor brasserie, serving local fish & seafood has an open kitchen and a lively vibe.

Globe Inn Marsh a traditional but modern country inn located in Military Road they specialise in using fresh and local produce to create good innovative home cooked food from Field Farm Sea and offer a wide selection of drinks. An up cycled marine theme with open fires and a patio great food at all times of the day. Children and dogs are welcome.

Simply Italian is a busy restaurant to suit all budgets housed in a rustic former 15th Century Mill in the Strand. There are daily specials and their motto is “simple food served with a smile” which says it all.

The George in Rye
the George Grill offers a fresh seasonal menu with a Mediterranean slant cooked using a real charcoal grill.  There is fish fresh from their boat in Hastings and Rye, and the finest Aberdeen Angus steaks. The extensive wine menu includes those from vineyards in East Sussex and Kent. Afternoon teas are exceptional as are the breakfasts all which can be enjoyed in the beautiful patio garden when the sun shines. Dogs are welcome in the bar and patio garden.

Further Afield

The Pilot Inn although most famous for its fish and chips the Pilot offers many more very reasonably priced fish dishes and traditional pub food. A stone’s throw from the sea, in the Dungeness National Nature Reserve there is a large garden with play equipment. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed inside.

The Bell Iden this traditional country pub 6.2 miles Camber has been a free house since 1107 has been a free house since 1107. There are beer gardens for enjoying the summer, and a wood burning fire in the bar for the wintery days. They serve Harvey’s and other ales, and excellent Sunday lunches. Children & dogs are welcome.
